Dr Patrick X.W. Zou is Professor and Leader of Construction Engineeringand Management Program at Swinburne University of Technology since 2014. Priorto this appointment, Dr Zou was Professor and Chair of Building andConstruction Management Program at University of Canberra (2011-2014) andAssociate Professor and Director of Construction Management and PropertyProgram at The University of New South Wales (UNSW 2000 – 2011), where he hadalso successfully held a number of leadership roles including Director of HDRStudents and Director of Construction Project Management Master Program.
With a PhD in Structural Engineering from UNSW, Patrick’s research,teaching and consultancy covers broad field of construction engineering andmanagement, with specific focuses on riskmanagement, safety management and sustainable building and construction systems.Patrick has successfully initiated, undertaken and completed numerousresearch/consulting projects funded by government departments and industryleading organisations. Patrick has provided over 50 invited guest lectures andconference keynotes. He has also undertaken research on scholarship of learningand teaching (SoLT) which led to the winning of the UNSW Vice-Chancellor’sAward for Teaching Excellence. Professor Zou has supervised many PhD, Masterand Honours students to on-time completion.
Patrick has held visiting academic and professorial appointments inseveral universities in the UK, US, and China and developed wide researchcollaboration networks. Patrick servesas members of several national and international journal editorial boards andreviewer panels.
ProfessorZou has published 4 books, 4 book chapters, 4 government reports and over 200peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, with over 1729 citations.He has won 11 major awards, nationally and internationally – 7 for excellencein research and 4 for excellence in teaching.
